Stay being simple

The furniture and tools that you use daily should be simple and clean. It is best to contrive your living room so that it can protect you from cold wind and make yourself comfortable. It is well enough if the furniture satisfies the role that has been assigned to. If you start to be interested in the luxury, you'd be spending too much on the furniture as well as the tools so that your mind may suffer from its luxury at the end. That is not the correct way of taking care of yourself.

The correct way is; If you feel the wind coming into the room from some small openings, you should paste a piece of paper upon them. The wind coming through small openings does go through the room easily and causes you a sickness. You must fear it and take good care of yourself against it. If you hear a wind goes close to your ear and you hear it, paste a piece of paper upon the openings where you feel cold wind coming in, if the openings are small.

Imagine, it is a house made of wood and paper in early 18th century. The Japanese living style had been established by then. They lived in a house with tatami flooring. They take off their foot wear at the entrance and usually sit on the floor while eating, chatting and working. They draw out futon from closet and spread it on the tatami floor for the bedding. Since the GNP at that time was quite low, most citizens were living in a room or house with no more than one room.  We were not in luxury at all and could not enjoy such anti-aging products as you see here, if compared to current daily life. But to tell you the truth, we don't feel comfortable to keep wearing shoes in our home if you were 3 years old in this modern days.

Sit properly

You should sit properly when you sit. You should not lean in any direction. You may sit cross-legged when you are in rest. It is not good to bend your knee. It is recommended to sit on chair occasionally. It is good to your health for your power circulate your body. People in China does this daily.
(Sit properly: sit erect with one's legs folded under. Seen Last Samurai?)

See how this kid sits: We learn to sit this way and it is called "seiza" This sitting style is called "agura": This is how samurai sit.
It's been for man. But now, girls sitting this way on the street. Do you
call it the liberation? If it is, well. . .
All the thing has started in before 3rd century when we imported, or it
could have been given by chinese or korean from the continent, "dotaku"

One more thing. That is the comment on the chair. It is amazing to find this kind of comment. Because we used to accept whatever Americans do. And the kind of mindset was called "faith in foreign-made". It still exists and it will be in future. All the thing has started in before 3rd century when we imported, or it could have been given by Chinese or Korean from the continent, "dotaku" (bronze bell-shaped vessel with the length of 20 - 150cm)

Yes, the chairs were not known to the general public till the end of Tokugawa Shogunate, past mid-19th century. We are in love with Tatami mat that has air purifying and humid control effect as well and been in use since 8th century. It's a long history, right?

Some differences between to be wealthy and live longer

There are many people who pray for wealth and flatter others who might be of help to gain status and power. They would not work. It is rare to take care of oneself in hope of not getting any sickness and to live longer. Those wealth, status and income are outside of you and you won't be able to get them unless you were fortunate and take effort for them.

It is inside of you to live longer without any sickness. It can be realized if you try, and no fortunate involved. Why does people try to get that is hard to get and not to try to be in health that is easier? It is foolish. If you were fortunate enough to acquire great wealth, you won't be able to enjoy it with illness or with that shorter life span.

++++++++
It depends how you see your inner life. I had traveled a lot. Especially, I could say that I had traveled throughout America than most Americans do. Did I enjoy it? Not at all. It had been stressful and lonesome road. I had so many girl friends who were 20-30 years younger. Did I enjoy it? Well, it was nice to kill time. But . . .
